Chair

Dr. Justin Sanders holds the Kappy and Eric M. Flanders Chair of Palliative Care and is Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at 91ɬÂþ. He directs the Division of Palliative Care in that department and the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the 91ɬÂþ Health Centre. Dr. Sanders has a BA in Art History from Haverford College, an MD from the University of Vermont, and an MSc in Medical Anthropology, which he completed at the University College London as a US-UK Fulbright Post-graduate Scholar. Dr. Sanders completed residency and chief residency in Family and Social Medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He completed his fellowship in the Harvard Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He was a research fellow in cancer communications outcomes research and then the Associate Director of Innovation in the Serious Illness Care Program at Ariadne Labs, a joint health systems innovation center at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He founded the Centre for Relationships in Serious Illness, which aims to transform healthcare for people affected by serious illness by understanding and promoting authentic healing relationships.

CPD Director

Dr. Stefano Polesello serves as an attending physician in the inpatient and outpatient settings at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Montreal General Hospital. He also practices within the Cardiac Palliative and Supportive Care Clinic. Dr. Polesello received his undergraduate degree from the University of Ottawa and attended medical school at 91ɬÂþ. He subsequently completed his Family Medicine residency at 91ɬÂþ followed by completion of a Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Medicine at 91ɬÂþ. Dr. Polesello’s interests include clinical education, and both malignant and non-malignant.
