Several听modules听are 鈥減lug-ins鈥�,听in听that听they听can be easily听lifted out of the machine听and replaced with a different听module serving a different听function.听听This machine has an 鈥淓CG PREAMP鈥� module and two 鈥淒C AMPLIFIER鈥� modules.听
The听鈥淓CG PREAMP鈥澨齧odule听(鈥淓CG鈥澨�=听electrocardiogram, 鈥淧REAMP鈥澨�=听鈥減reamplifier鈥�)听has two channels听(hence the origin of听the name 鈥淭win-Viso鈥�),听so that one can听obtain听a simultaneous recording of any two different 鈥渓eads鈥� of the ECG.听听
The lead-selector switch听(arrows)听allows听selection听of any one of the听12 classic ECG leads: standard limb leads I-II-III, augmented extremity limb leads听aVR-aVL-aVF, and chest leads V1-V6. The INSTO control allows recording the ECG trace without听having to听wait听for the machine鈥檚听vacuum听tubes to warm up, which was important for听being able to听capture听urgent or fleeting cardiac events.听听
The outputs of the two preamplifiers are sent to the two D. C. AMPLIFIER modules, whose outputs provide a strong enough signal to drive the two pen recorders on the left side of the instrument.
