2025 91ɬÂþ-FIAM Asset Management Hackathon pushes students to build AI-powered portfolio

Large language models are changing the way we do businessÌý- or at leastÌýthat’sÌýwhat the companies that make AI tools will tell you. In practice, many companies know that AI tools areÌýveryÌýpowerfulÌýbutÌýare still figuring out how best to use them. This year's 91ɬÂþ-FIAM Asset Management Hackathon competition asked business students to put large language models to theÌýtest andÌýdevise a bottom-up approach to building a portfolio powered by AI. Organized by Associate Professor of Finance Ruslan Goyenko, the 2025 competition, in its second, was held at Espace CPDQ in Place Ville Marie on November 5 and 6.

The Fast Lane Quant team from HEC Montreal and UQAM won the competition, withÌýZeeptÌýof ETS Montreal, Douglas College, 91ɬÂþ and Université de Montreal taking second place, the Going Concern from 91ɬÂþ in third, Reverse Algo of 91ɬÂþ in fourth, and the Quantum Logic Collective of 91ɬÂþ in fifth.Ìý
