They will provi de potential applicants with insider information about the peer-review sys tem and/or strategies for preparing a successful proposal:\nØ Professor Ca rrie Rentschler (Institute for Gender\, Sexuality and Feminist Studies\, I DG committee member) and \nØ Professor Nathan Hall (Department of Educatio nal and Counselling Psychology\, IDG awardee)\n \n\na question and answer period where participants will be encouraged to pose any questions that th ey may have about this funding opportunity. For participants who may not f eel comfortable asking a question during the session or might not be able to attend the workshop\, please send your questions in advance to melissa. w.li [at] mcgill.ca (Melissa Li). \n \nThe internal guide prepared by the Office of Sponsored Research will be distributed at the workshop.\nCoffee will be served.\nPlease R.S.V.P. to vera.milbradt [at] mcgill.ca by Tuesda y\, November 19\, 2013.\nThe workshop may be cancelled if attendance is no t sufficient.\n \n \nBackground:\nInsight Development Grants support resea rch in its initial stages for up to two years (with an automatic extension period for one year) for emerging and established scholars in the social sciences and humanities. The grants enable the development of new research questions\, as well as experimentation with new methods\, theoretical app roaches and/or ideas. The maximum value of an Insight Development Grant is $75\,000. A minimum budget of $7\,000 in at least one of the years is req uired.
