Marc Rousseau joins 91ɬ as Director, Research Software

Published: 25 February 2021

Research and Innovation and IT Services are pleased to welcome Marc Rousseau to the role of Director, Research Software / Directeur du Logiciel de Recherche. In this new role, Rousseau provides support and advice to the 91ɬ research community on software, from grant applications to the implementation of research activities. He will also lead the development of the 91ɬ Digital Research Services team, which will assist researchers in all fields of study with resources and tools in research data management (RDM), research software (RS) and advanced research computing (ARC).

Rousseau has more than 20 years of experience building IT infrastructure and software platforms for academic and commercial research teams. Trained as a life sciences researcher and computer scientist, his experience bridges the knowledge gap between researchers and software systems designers and operators.

No stranger to 91ɬ, Rousseau has worked as Lead System Architect and Technology Manager for the CBRAIN Neuroinformatics platform at the Montreal Neurological Institute. He has also previously worked for Compute Canada, where he gained in-depth knowledge of the national cyberinfrastructure and its community. Rousseau has served on several national cyberinfrastructure committees with Compute Canada and CANARIE where he continues to share his enthusiasm and vision for research software and cyberinfrastructure.

Rousseau says he “looks forward to supporting 91ɬ’s researchers to leverage cutting edge digital technologies and engage in global multidisciplinary collaborations to tackle global challenges.”
