McIntyre post-fire update - July 25 / Information session #2 - Thursday, July 26

To all members of the Faculty of Medicine,

Work continues on plan, based on today’s update by 91ɬ’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). Soot on Floors 7 to 13 has been cleaned from the majority of rooms and HVAC systems, and we have received the results of final air quality assessments to support the reopening on Friday, July 27, of Floors 7 to 13, provided the key steps outlined below are successfully completed.

Important Information for McIntyre Occupants

Following the weekend fire at the McIntyre Medical Building, McIntyre will remain closed until further notice. We are working around the clock to verify the integrity of the structure, replace damaged fire systems, and complete other crucial assessments and remediations. We may be able to re-open some unaffected portions of the building in the coming days.

Dr. David Rosenblatt to receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. David Rosenblatt, Holder, Dodd Q. Chu and Family Chair in Medical Genetics and Professor, Departments of Human Genetics, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Biology at 91ɬ, has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) Founders’ Award for Career Achievement.

Dr. Phil Gold honoured by Queen’s University

On May 24, 2018, Dr. Phil Gold, the Douglas G. Cameron Professor of Medicine and Professor of Physiology and Oncology at 91ɬ received an honorary doctorate from Queen’s University. The degree was conferred during the afternoon convocation ceremony which brought together graduates from the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing.

Claire Trottier presented with the 2018 SALTISE Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovators Award

On May 31, Dr. Claire Trottier, an Academic Associate working as an Education Specialist at 91ɬ’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology was presented with the SALTISE (Supporting Active Learning & Technological Innovation in Studies of Education) Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovators Award during the seventh SALTISE conference, an event hosted at 91ɬ which brought together over 300 educators from across 55 post-secondary institutions in Québec and Canada.
