Construction starts: Macdonald Campus – Removal of Temporary Classrooms

91ɬÂþ’s Facilities Management and Ancillary Services (FMAS) will carry out Project 23-035 near the Centennial Centre on the Macdonald Campus. The project involves the decommissioning and removal of the temporary classrooms located near the building.

Work will also include the removal of associated underground services, dismantling of the existing gravel pad, and full restoration of the site, including seeding to return the area to its original use as a soccer field.

Scope of work

  • Decommissioning, dismantling, and removal of the temporary classroom structures.
  • Removal of related underground services in the surrounding exterior area.
  • Removal of the existing gravel pad.
  • Restoration of the site, including seeding, and reinstatement as a soccer field.
  • Work in mechanical and electrical rooms (Rooms 01 and 02) located in the basement of the Centennial Centre.

Impact on occupants

Impacts to occupants and nearby areas will be carefully managed to minimize disruption while maintaining safe access at all times.

  • Construction zone: Work will take place in and around the Centennial Centre.
  • Perimeter fencing: Temporary construction fencing will be installed near the work area.
  • Service interruptions: No service shutdowns are anticipated.

Safety measures

No specific risks to building occupants are anticipated. Standard construction safety protocols will be in place throughout the duration of the project.
