The DOM achieved an 85% success rate, with 11 of 13 applicants funded.</p> <p>Across Quebec, 52% of career awards were funded (137/262). The DOM accounted for 8% of these awards, a strong contribution for a single department within one of 10 universities funded. He died in the early hours of March 3, 2026.</p> Fri, 13 Mar 2026 18:20:06 +0000 David Langlais, Ken Dewar, Alexander DeGuise and William Foulkes 2010 at /deptmedicine Venous Thrombosis Trial Published in The New England Journal of Medicine /deptmedicine/article/venous-thrombosis-trial-published-new-england-journal-medicine <p>The first clinical trial to compare two commonly used drugs head-to-head for venous thrombosis treatment has found a clear winner: while both drugs work well to prevent recurrent blood clots, <b>apixaban is safer than rivaroxaban</b>, with fewer bleeding complications.</p> <p>The COBRRA trial, led by researchers at The Ottawa Hospital, aimed to directly compare bleeding with apixaban and rivaroxaban in venous thrombosis patients.
