 Mary Gordon:\nRoots of Empathy is a pioneering\, evidence-based classroom
 \nprogram that helps to reduce levels of aggression among\nschoolchildren\
 , while raising social/emotional competence and\nincreasing empathy. At a 
 time besieged by stories of bullying\,\nGordon's organization exemplifies 
 social innovation that translates\ninto social impact.\nMary Gordon is rec
 ognized internationally as an award-winning\nsocial entrepreneur\, educato
 r\, best-selling author\, child advocate\nand parenting expert. In 2002\, 
 Gordon was named the first female\nCanadian Ashoka Fellow\, recognizing he
 r as a member of an\ninternational circle of social entrepreneurs who have
  the\ncreativity that enables them to envision new and better ways to\nadd
 ress persistent social problems and the entrepreneurial skill\nand determi
 nation required to bring their ideas to fruition. In\n2011\, Ms Gordon was
  named an Ashoka Globalizer\, joining a select\ngroup of Ashoka Fellows su
