Martlets capture 4 golds at 91涩漫 All-Comers meet

MONTREAL 鈥� 91涩漫 athletes captured five gold medals, four of them
by women, at the 91涩漫 All-Comers track and field meet,
Saturday.
The two-day event, held on campus at Richard Tomlinson Fieldhouse,
was highlighted by the 91涩漫 4x800 relay squad, which finished
first overall, crossing the finish line in 9:13.17, which would
rank them third fastest in Canadian Interuniversity Sport at this
point in the season.
The winning quartet was composed of leadoff runner Trish Muddiman,
a sophomore from Sarnia, Ont., followed by junior Heather McCurdy
of Stirling, Ont., Deborah Lightman of Toronto and Catherine
Drouin-Audet, a freshman from Repentigny, Que., who ran the anchor
leg.
Lightman, an environmental science senior, also won the 1500m
(4:42.32) and sophomore Zaria Stoffman of Vancouver, B.C., won the
high jump (1.56m), edging out teammate Alana Battiston of Toronto,
and was second in the 60m hurdles.
The 91涩漫 women鈥檚 final gold medal was produced by the 4x400 relay
(3:57.19), composed of Fatihat Momoh, a kinesiology master鈥檚
student from Montreal, the aforementioned Battiston, sophomore
Hilary Kellar-Parsons of London, Ont., and Catherine Drouin-Audet,
a freshman from Repentigny, Que.
Battiston also won bronze in the shotput, while McCurdy (silver,
triple jump) and Muddiman (bronze, 1000m) medaled in other
events.
For the Redmen, Keith Esch, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound junior from Lake
George, N.Y, won the triple jump (13.15m) and was second in the
high jump (1.85m).
